The Ninth Gate (1999)
Movie 2 videosDirected by Roman Polanski
Roman Polanski's 1999 occult mystery follows a rare-book dealer pulled into a hunt for a satanic text said to summon the devil. Emmanuelle Seigner plays the woman who trails him through the story, her role tied to a nude scene included in the archive's two clips. Lena Olin appears as a widow with her own stake in the manuscript, and her entry includes a sex scene from the film. Both sequences sit in the archive under this title, pulling two of the film's more explicit stretches away from its otherwise cold, literary tone.
