Bitter Moon (1992)

Roman Polanski's "Bitter Moon" is a dark psychosexual drama set aboard a cruise ship. A crippled writer recounts his obsessive, destructive love affair to a fellow passenger. The confession spirals into desire, humiliation, and cruelty as the story unfolds. Emmanuelle Seigner anchors the film with a performance that holds nothing back. She bares herself completely, physically and emotionally, as the affair curdles into obsession. Kristin Scott Thomas rounds out the cast as the unwitting listener drawn into the tale.
