Maria Schneider

Maria-Hélène Schneider, known professionally as Maria Schneider, was a French actress. She became known around the world in 1972 when she starred opposite Marlon Brando in Last Tango in Paris. Maria Schneider went nude in Last Tango in Paris and Helle, both from 1972. She was born on 27 March 1952 and died on 3 February 2011 after a long illness. Directed by Bernardo Bertolucci, Last Tango in Paris drew heavy controversy for its sexual content. In 1975 she starred opposite Jack Nicholson in The Passenger, a well-reviewed film by Michelangelo Antonioni. A habit of leaving productions hurt her career, but she found her footing again in the early 1980s. Her later work includes A Woman Like Eve from 1979.
