Ayako Wakao

Ayako Wakao is a Japanese actress and one of the biggest film stars her country produced. She signed with Daiei Studios in 1951 as part of its fifth New Face group. Ayako Wakao did her nude scenes in Irezumi, a film released in 1966. She was born on November 8, 1933, in Tokyo, Japan. Director Yasuzo Masumura treated her as his favorite lead, and she starred in many of his films. Kon Ichikawa also cast her often, giving her starring or supporting parts across several works. She worked with Kenji Mizoguchi on A Geisha and Street of Shame. She also appeared in Yasujirō Ozu's Floating Weeds, adding another major director to her career.
