"The Handmaid's Tale" exists in two screen versions: the 1990 film adaptation of Margaret Atwood's novel and the acclaimed series that began in 2017, both built around a woman forced into reproductive servitude under the totalitarian regime of Gilead. The archive pulls from both, with 14 scenes spanning the two productions. Elisabeth Moss, who leads the series as Offred, and Madeline Brewer, who plays Janine, both appear in nude and sex scenes captured across multiple episodes. Laila Kharouba adds further scenes from the series' run. The film side brings Natasha Richardson, in the lead role of Kate, and Faye Dunaway, whose scenes offer a rare look at the 1990 adaptation's take on the material. Richardson's nude scene stands as one of the only recorded instances of the late actress appearing unclothed on camera.
