La belle noiseuse is Jacques Rivette's 1991 French drama about an aging painter who takes on one last commission and casts a young woman as his model. Emmanuelle Beart plays that model, and the film builds its running time around the studio sessions between them, posing after posing, sketch after sketch. She spends much of the picture undressed in front of the canvas, with the camera holding on her body the same way the painter's eye does.
