Egon Schiele Excess and Punishment

Egon Schiele Excess and Punishment is a 1980 drama set in Austria in 1912, following the painter's arrest on pornography charges tied to his erotic depictions of a young model and the fallout with his lover Vally. Jane Birkin plays Vally, the woman who seeks out a lawyer to fight for Schiele's release before he abandons her for another marriage and heads off to war. The archive carries 1 scene clip from the film, showing Birkin nude in a sequence built around the era's loose attitude toward the body and art.
