Kate Berlant

Kate Berlant built her name as a comedian and actress in alternative comedy circles. She branched into film with the 2018 drama Duck Butter, taking a nude turn few expected. That role paired her with Alia Shawkat in an unscripted, real-time relationship story. The film includes a lesbian scene between the two leads, shot with unusual explicitness. Berlant appears alongside Hong Chau and Laia Costa in the same production. The archive on this site holds one video from that film. It captures her in a sex scene that pushed past typical indie drama boundaries. This is a rare instance of Berlant showing skin on screen. Her comedy work rarely touches this territory, making Duck Butter the outlier. The single title here is the one to open first.
