What a Way to Go! (1964)

"What a Way to Go!" is a 1964 satirical comedy in which a widow narrates the story of her four marriages, each husband dying and leaving her wealthier than the last. The film pokes fun at wealth and Hollywood spectacle through a series of exaggerated flashbacks. Shirley MacLaine plays the widow, and the archive carries 4 scenes drawn from her costuming throughout the picture, catching her in the kind of fitted and low-cut outfits that pushed past the usual studio conservatism of the period. No nudity, but the wardrobe does most of the work.
