The Lobster (2015)

"The Lobster" is a deadpan dystopian satire about single people sent to a hotel to find a partner. Fail, and they're turned into an animal of their choosing. That absurdist setup makes room for some strikingly bare, unfiltered intimacy along the way. Ariane Labed brings a raw physicality to her role, and the film never shies away from showing it. Two scenes on site catch her nude and unguarded. Both fit the movie's clinical, stripped-down tone rather than playing for titillation. Fans of arthouse cinema with a voyeuristic streak will want to dig into this one.
