Mayday (2021)

"Mayday" spins a surreal wartime fantasy where a group of women wage a strange, dreamlike rebellion against men from a hidden radio outpost, blending fable and revenge fantasy into something hard to pin down. Mia Goth leads the charge with an unsettling, magnetic presence that anchors the film's odd logic, while Grace Van Patten rounds out the ensemble as one of the women pulled into this fractured world. The two scenes collected here catch both actresses in exposed, vulnerable territory that stands apart from the film's fairy-tale strangeness.
