L' innocente (1976)

"L'innocente" is Luchino Visconti's final film, a period drama set among Italian aristocracy at the turn of the century, built around a marriage strained by jealousy and infidelity. Laura Antonelli plays the wife caught in the film's central betrayal. The archive holds 2 scenes from her performance, including nude interludes that mark her out as one of the more exposed roles of her career. Visconti frames her body with the same attention he gives the period interiors and costume detail throughout the film.
