The Housewives of Atlanta are back. This recap keeps it short and hits the key points, Celeb Masta style.
This episode delivered exactly the kind of action viewers tune in for. Gregg and NeNe have remarried. The ceremony was beautiful. It was filled with love, tears, happiness, and joy. Any bride knows the stress of planning a dream wedding. This one was no exception. Filming it for television made it even more intense. The whole world was invited to watch.
The guest list included family, friends, and business associates. Some people were invited out of respect. Kenya fell into the respect category. She wasn’t someone NeNe knew well, just a fellow cast member. Whether Kenya attended wasn’t the issue. A direct response would have been the respectful move. Instead, Kenya responded publicly on Twitter with a simple congrats. That made it clear she wanted the world to know she was invited. It also signaled she wanted everyone to know she skipped it. Sometimes people’s motives are crystal clear. Keep “motives” in mind. That theme will come back later in the season.
The Bailey Agency Opening: Cynthia is moving on to a bigger and better location. Gregg and NeNe had been married just two weeks when Cynthia held her event. Kenya visited Cynthia beforehand. She said her “friends” should have reached out during her eviction drama. She was referring to NeNe, Kandi, and Cynthia. That claim doesn’t hold up. Kenya never reached out to NeNe either.
NeNe is a sharp woman. She can read the energy of a room the moment she walks in. The tension was obvious when Kenya entered. NeNe tried to step away by touring Cynthia’s new space. She ended up bumping into Kenya anyway. Kenya asked why Walter was invited to the wedding. She also asked why NeNe hadn’t reached out during the eviction situation. The answers are straightforward. Someone claiming to be a top actress, producer, and director doesn’t exactly scream “evicted.” The story appeared on a few blogs. It wasn’t national news. There was no reason to reach out over gossip. As for Walter’s invitation, the bride invites whoever she chooses.
One more thing worth noting. Twitter and NeNe’s phone blew up when Kenya grabbed her ear. NeNe has come a long way. She knows when someone is trying to provoke a reaction. She’s not willing to risk everything she’s built for that kind of provocation. Had the roles been reversed, NeNe would have been called a bully. She would have been labeled violent, aggressive, and mean. Yet somehow it’s acceptable for someone else to cross that line.
